On February 20, 2008, the Capital Area Transportation
Authority Board voted to approve a fare change that
increases the price of all CATA cash fares, tokens and
passes, effective April 7, 2008. CATA had not increased
the regular fixed-route fare of $1 since 1994.
The fare increase is required to cover rising operating
expenses - including expenditures such as fuel - to
provide transportation services.
CATA conducted 11 public hearings in January and
February. Hundreds of comments were recorded
and taken into consideration.

NOTE: CATA will continue to honor all passes* and
tokens purchased prior to the April 7 price-increase
effective date.
* Student Semester and Commuter Lot passes are valid only during the time frames printed on the pass.
